When I first heard some tracks of this album several months ago, I thought:
wonderful, an album by this great ex-Temptations singer. The tracks I heard
were "Drama in the bedroom" an "Power of a woman" and I thought these were
so good, they must be the 2 best tracks of the album. Well, somebody should
have warned me. After slipping this in my CD player and hitting the play button
I nearly fell out of my chair. The first track, a ballad called "Turn out the stars"
was responsible for that. The music, the lyrics, the wounded voice, as if I died
and gone to heaven. If there ever was a song describing a broken heart, this is it
After this I thought the album can't get any better, but it didn't get any worse
either!
Tracks like "Angel", "Whatever it takes', "Will you still love me tomorrow",
"Deeper love" are equally as beautiful. Other favorites are the Preston Glass
produced "Drama in the bedroom", Power of a woman", Believe that" and the
title track "Right here all along".
If anyone is wondering what Ali Ollie Woodson sounds like, imagine taking
the 2 or 3 best tracks of any Temptations album from the mid '80 when Woodson
was lead singer with the group, put them together on one album and still this
new album is about ten times better. That good!! This is one album that is going
to appear on a lot of top 10 lists for album of the year. On my list certainly.
Ali Ollie Woodson always was "Right here all along" but now he is back in the
spotlight. A place where he belongs.
