Vaneese Thomas

One of Rufus Thomas' many talented siblings, Vaneese Thomas enjoyed some big
success in the late '80s as a solo vocalist on Geffen. Her debut LP, Vaneese Thomas, had
a pair of Top 20 R&B hits in "Let's Talk It Over" and "(I Wanna Get) Close To You" in
1987. Thomas remained busy into the early '90s doing session work for Lenny White,
Bob James, Carl Anderson, Freddie Jackson, Beau Williams, Melba Moore, and Sarah
Dash.
In 1998 Vaneese released a gospel album called “When My Back’s Against The Wall”.
Songs recorded not long after her ’87 debut album were finally issued in 2001 by UK
label UnleashThe80’s on “Talk To Me.
Vaneese re-recorded the same songs from her UK release and released them along with 2
extra songs on her “A Woman’s Love” album 2 years later.
