what I'm doing, because it's like every word--when I get into it, when I
sing songs, man--it's, like, especially I put myself in the position I

India.Arie Explains How 'Voyage To India' Differs From Her Debut

Soul singer-guitarist India.Arie is set to release her sophomore album,
Voyage To India, on Tuesday (September 24). She recently told us about
how the new set differs from her critically acclaimed,
platinum-certified debut, Acoustic Soul.
Arie said: "Yeah, the first time was a lot of hit and miss, real
experimental and everything. This one was...because I have a band
now--we've been together as a unit for a year and a half--I knew when I
wanted a keyboard player who I was going to call. When I wanted a guitar
player, I knew who I was gonna call, so in that way it wasn't so much
searching and hit and miss, but also in that way it was very
collaborative because we had a lot of ideas that we formulated together
like at sound check on tour and stuff."
The artist continued: "And then, on another level, it was just much more
simple because I've become better at communicating, especially in the
studio. It was just kinda like I asked for what I wanted."

TLC To Issue '3D' Tribute To Lopes

R&B superstar act TLC is set to release "3D" -- the group's fourth album
and first since the death of group member Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes earlier
this year. Due Nov. 12 via Arista, the album will be the follow-up to
1999's "Fanmail," which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and has
sold 4.68 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
"3D" was in production at the time of Lopes' death, and she had
contributed material to the album along with fellow group members Tionne
"T-Boz" Watkins and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas. It was Lopes who came up
with the album's title, according to a statement from Arista.
The first single from the new set will be "Quickie," which is due to hit
radio Oct. 21, but will be available more than a month earlier to
Internet users. AOL Music First Listen (keyword: First Listen) and
Netscape Music will offer a streaming preview of the track beginning
Wednesday (Sept. 18).

"3D" was recorded with a slew of producers, including Dallas Austin (on
the title track and "Quickie"); Timbaland & Missy Elliott ("Dirty");
Rodney Jerkins ("Turntable); Babyface & Darryl Simmons ("Hands Up"); and
Edmund "Eddie Hustle" Clement ("Girl Talk").
Since TLC's 1993 debut, "Oooooh... On the TLC Tip," the group has become
one of the biggest-selling R&B acts ever, having been certified by the
Recording Industry Association of America for U.S. shipments of 21
million albums.
