Dennis Taylor
New Jersey-based Dennis Taylor delved into
music full-time after a stint with the U.S. Air Force. A
hookup with producer Fred McFarlane, facilitated by Robin S. (a mutual friend),
got the ball rolling
and spawned Taylor's breakthrough CD, Enough Is Enough (Dome Records). Produced
by
McFarlane and Darryl James, it marries R&B grooves in a contemporary package
delivered by
Taylor in a baritone that is reminiscent of the great lower registers of
yesteryear as well as current
heartthrobs Donnell Jones, Uncle Sam, and Will Downing. As is the case with many
purveyors of
adult R&B, Taylor is more loved overseas, specifically in the United
Kingdom, where he has
appeared in festivals and performed at London's Jazz Café. The follow-up album
Unconditional
was released in 2001, this contained a duet with Dome labelmate Beverlei Brown.
