Vaneese Thomas
One of Rufus Thomas' many talented
siblings, Vaneese Thomas enjoyed some big
success in the late '80s as a solo vocalist on Geffen. Her debut LP, Vaneese
Thomas, had
a pair of Top 20 R&B hits in "Let's Talk It Over" and "(I Wanna Get) Close To
You" in
1987. Thomas remained busy into the early '90s doing session work for Lenny
White,
Bob James, Carl Anderson, Freddie Jackson, Beau Williams, Melba Moore, and Sarah
Dash.
In 1998 Vaneese released a gospel album called “When My Back’s Against The
Wall”.
Songs recorded not long after her ’87 debut album were finally issued in 2001 by
UK
label UnleashThe80’s on “Talk To Me.
Vaneese re-recorded the same songs from her UK release and released them along
with 2
extra songs on her “A Woman’s Love” album 2 years later.
